FEAST OF THE ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY, Wednesday AUGUST 15. Holy day of obligation.  Mass at 6PM. Pope Pius XII. in 1950 proclaimed the feast as a holy day of the church. It is interesting to note that St. Stephen, first king of Hungary, devoted throughout his life to the Blessed Virgin Mary, offered the Hungarian nation to Mary, asking for her protection before he died on August 15, 1038.

NEXT WEEKEND:  AUGUST 18-19 ST. STEPHEN DAY HUNGARIAN FESTIVAL AT OUR CHURCH GROUNDS.   The festivities on Saturday include entertainment and delicious foods for sale from noon, live music all day, performances by artists from Hungary and by our local Harmonia Ensemble and The Hungarian Scout Folk Ensemble.  Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 5PM.  On Sunday the Festival closes with Mass at 11AM celebrated by Most Reverend Nelson J. Perez, Bishop of Cleveland, and agapé afterwards, closing the Festival.

FREE PARKING FOR NEXT SATURDAY at the hospital’s north parking lot D at West 28 and Franklin with free shuttle service between the lot and the church.  Use this to avoid the crowded congestion at the market lot.

THE TRADITIONAL LATIN MASS: will be offered every 2nd, 3rd, 4th, & 5th   (if there is one) Saturday every month at 9 A.M. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary.  I granted permission to Fr. Bede O.S.B. to transfer his Mass from the Monastery to the parish church in lieu of adequate space and accommodation for the faithful.  This move also offers an opportunity to train local clergy in the ancient rite and train grade school and high school youth in serving the Mass.  The church is on the National Historical Registry as the Mother Church for Hungarians in North East Ohio.
