ASH WEDNESDAY, BEGINNING OF THE LENTEN SEASON.   Ashes will be distributed Wednesday and also next Sunday for those who did not receive ashes Wednesday. This Wednesday is a day fast and abstinence. The fast, only 3 meals a day with only one full meal—applies to all Catholics between the age of 14 and 60.  Also abstinence from meat on Ash Wednesday and all Fridays of Lent is to be observed as a sign of penance. During Lent, we will be saying the Stations of the Cross at 10:30 AM before the Sunday Mass.  I encourage your participation.

ANNIVERSARY OF THE APPARITIONS AT LOURDES, when on Feb. 11, 1858, the Blessed Mother appeared to Bernadette Soubirous in Masabielle,  followed by 17 more apparitions.   St. Pope John Paul II designated Feb. 11 as the world day for the sick, to help everyone realize the need for praying for the sick.
