Szent Henrik n\u00e9met cs\u00e1sz\u00e1r testv\u00e9r\u00e9t, Gizell\u00e1t, akivel sok hitt\u00e9r\u00edt\u0151 \u00e9s lovag j\u00f6tt Bajororsz\u00e1gb\u00f3l. Atyja \u00e9let\u00e9ben a nyitrai duk\u00e1tus ura volt, majd 997-ben, G\u00e9za fejedelem hal\u00e1la ut\u00e1n k\u00f6vette \u0151t a fejedelmi sz\u00e9kben. Az ezredfordul\u00f3n, 1000 kar\u00e1csony\u00e1n, (m\u00e1s \u00e9rtelmez\u00e9sek szerint 1001. janu\u00e1r 1-j\u00e9n) koron\u00e1zt\u00e1k kir\u00e1lly\u00e1 Esztergomban a feltehet\u0151leg II. Istv\u00e1nt a gy\u00e1sz megviselte, majd s\u00falyosan meg is betegedett. \u00cdgy utols\u00f3 \u00e9veire egyenes\u00e1gi \u00f6r\u00f6k\u00f6s n\u00e9lk\u00fcl maradt. Ut\u00f3dak\u00e9nt v\u00e9g\u00fcl unoka\u00f6ccs\u00e9t, Orseolo P\u00e9tert nevezte meg. Hal\u00e1la el\u0151tt Magyarorsz\u00e1got a Boldogs\u00e1gos Sz\u0171zany\u00e1nak aj\u00e1nlotta fel.
