FROM THE DESK OF FR. BONA: Let us join ourselves with great faith and devotion to the celebrations of the Holy Week. Palm Sunday commences the Holy Week and commemorates the triumphant arrival of Christ in Jerusalem. Let us praise and glorify the Lord and thank Him for His coming. Then, the Sacred Triduum begins with the evening Mass on Holy Thursday. On this day we commemorate the establishment of the sacraments of the Eucharist and the ministerial priesthood. With our prayers we also join Jesus Christ praying in the Garden of Gethsemane. On Good Friday we recall and relive the sufferings of our Lord realizing our salvation was not cheap. On this day we must observe strict fast and abstinence from meat. On Holy Saturday the Church waits at the Lord’s tomb in prayer (and optionally fasting), meditating on His Passion and Death and on his Descent into the Hell, and awaiting his Resurrection.
