FROM THE DESK OF FR. BONA: Today we light the second candle on our Advent wreath. The second candle, also purple, represents faith. It is also called the “Bethlehem Candle” as a reminder of Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem. May our faith and trust in Jesus Christ continue to grow stronger in this holy season of Advent.
On Tuesday, we will celebrate the SOLEMNITY OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION. She has been the patroness of the United States since 1846. In 1854 Pius IX declared the teaching of Mary’s Immaculate Conception to be a dogma of our faith. We will have several masses for the solemnity: December 7 at 6 PM (English); December 8 at 9AM (Hungarian), at 12 noon at St. Elizabeth (Hungarian/English), and at 6PM at St. Emeric (Hungarian). For the Solemnity of the Nativity of the Lord (Christmas) on December 24 there will be an 8PM Mass at St. Elizabeth and 11PM Mass at St. Emeric. On December 25 we will have 9:30 AM Mass at St. Elizabeth and 11AM Mass at St. Emeric.
THIS SUNDAY we have our youth choir and celebration of the feast of St. Nicholas, who may even visit.
