Dear St. Emeric Parishioners! Dear Friends!
St. Emeric Parish is in mourning. Our respected and beloved pastor, Father Sándor Siklódi, following a short but serious illness passed away on July 31, 2013, 3 o’clock in the afternoon. He gave back his soul to the Creator, to whom he dedicated his life and faithfully served as a priest for 42 years.
Among his last words to us was his request that we remain true to God, our faith, our Church, and to care for and nurture our parish and each other in faith with brotherly love and care.
Funeral arrangements have been now finalized, there were many variable factors that had to be considered. We are grateful to Endre Gyulay, Bishop Emeritus of Diocese of Szeged-Csanad, Hungary, who rearranged his busy schedule and assumed the travel challenges in order to come and satisfy the wish of his good friend, Father Sandor, that his funeral service be in Hungarian.
The funeral services for a priest differ a little from that of the lay faithful. The priests of the Diocese, together with the parishioners and friends, pray the Vespers by the coffin in the church the day before the Funeral Mass.
The Vesper Service will be Sunday, August 25, at 3 PM in St. Emeric Church. All parishioners, friends, benefactors are cordially invited and encouraged to attend this special farewell service. Visitation will follow until 9 PM as the body lies in state in the church.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be the following day, Monday, August 26, at 10 AM in the morning in St. Emeric Church. We will then follow him to his final resting place in Holy Cross Cemetery. (14609 Brookpark Rd. , Brook Park, Ohio, 44142).
May eternal light shine upon our departed Pastor. Trusting in God’s love and mercy, may his soul rest in peace!
