FROM THE DESK OF FR. BONA: I would like to mention or comment on three matters today. Firstly, last week our procession in honor of the Body and Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ went very well. The weather cooperated (albeit it was a little warm), the altars were beautifully decorated, and the children with the flower petals and many of you being there and singing aided greatly this solemn celebration. Thank you to all of you who have contributed to this feast with your work and sacrifice. May God reward your efforts. The reason we have Eucharistic processions is to express our homage and gratitude to the Lord and to witness to the world that we truly believe that Jesus Christ is present with us with his Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity under the species of bread and wine. I hope we will do the Corpus Christi procession next year as well.

On another topic, on Friday I received the following email: “My name is [withheld] and I am a student at Case Western Reserve University looking to attend your Hungarian Masses on Sundays. Unfortunately, I do not have any mode of transportation to get there. I would like to ask if any of your members live near the Little Italy area and would be willing and able to drive me to these Masses. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.” If anybody is able to help, please, let me know. Thank you.

Finally, the month of June is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. We are all familiar with the pictures or statues of the Sacred Heart. The hands of Jesus (and feet if visible) bear the nail marks – the sign of His great love for us. The love of Christ is further amplified by having His heart displayed on the outside – visible to the whole world. It is usually surmounted by a cross, surrounded by a crown of thorns, and framed by a burst of light. On rare occasions it is also pierced by a sword. Jesus points to His Heart with one hand and at the same time looking at us, engaging us, and asking for a response. Let us be eternally grateful for all that mercy that has flown from the Sacred Heart of Jesus to us and to the whole world, and, as our response, let us live and die with the highest form of love in our owns hearts – agape love – the self-sacrificing love.

IMPORTANT NEWS: With the improving situation concerning the health pandemic, the bishops of Ohio have decided to reinstate the general obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation (Code of Canon Law, c. 1247). This will take effect in each of the Dioceses of Ohio the weekend of June 5-6, 2021.
