We will restart the monthly agapé gatherings – light refreshments offered in the hall of the church and remembering those who celebrate their birthdays or name days that month. This Sunday, after Mass, on August 1, we will have our first agapé gathering, after the lifting of restrictions, and it will be coordinated with the help of the St. Emeric Altar Guild.
There is a reason that this type of church gathering is called agapé. It is a Greek word meaning the highest form of love – a self-sacrificial love. In addition, it was also used as a name for the communal meals and gatherings of the ancient Christians held on Sundays (either after the Eucharist or later in the day).
