FROM THE DESK OF FR. BONA: (1) Christ is risen! I pray that you and your loved ones have a blessed Easter!

(2) As you could see below on April 19th, we will not have our 11AM Mass here at St. Emeric, but it will be held at the Shrine of St. Elizabeth at 11:30AM. I hope that many of you will join us also for the meal afterwards.

(3) On Holy Thursday, our church was open from 8-11PM for those who wanted to visit seven churches and pray before the Blessed Sacrament at the Altar of Repose. We had close to 500 people, mostly young, who stopped that evening/night by our church. In addition, a group of our parishioners also made the “hike” and visited the other six churches.

HEARTFELT THANKS to all the dedicated volunteers who helped in preparing for the Easter celebration – the liturgical music and singing, assisting in the liturgy, decorating the church, acquiring the flowers, mail and electronic publicity, cleaning, and inside and outside beautification of our church and the surrounding grounds. May God reward you abundantly!

THE NEXT SUNDAY IS DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY: Our Lord’s promise to grant complete forgiveness of sins & punishment on the Feast of Mercy is recorded three times in St. Faustina’s Diary: Divine Mercy in My Soul. RESURRECTION AND HOLY TRINITY: One of the significant aspects of the Resurrection is the fact that it unites humanity itself to the Trinity in a new way. It brings this new resurrected and glorified human state into the life of God. The new resurrected and glorified human nature is now fully united to Christ, and He is united to the Father and the Spirit, which reveals the unity of humanity with the entire Trinity.

This points to the end and goal of all humanity. We now have hope for our own lives to share in this new glorified state of the Resurrection and union with the Trinity. We look forward to this and hope in this. And hope is not just something we wish for. True Christian hope is a virtue that is grounded in some divine truth revealed to us. We have true faith in the Resurrection, and this gift of faith also produces hope of achieving what we hope for. It’s a hope and desire that is fully able to be realized, because this hope is instilled in us by God and by the reality of the Resurrection.

The Resurrection of Christ tells us that all humanity is now predestined by God’s plan and by this historical act of the Resurrection to share in a new glorious state of life that goes even beyond the original intention of God in the Garden of Eden. We are now called to share in God’s very life, united with Him in a new and glorious existence. This should fill us with excitement, wonder and awe! (Source: John Paul Thomas, My Catholic Faith)
