FROM THE DESK OF FR. BONA: The image on the cover of the bulletin depicts a moment from Matthew’s Passion: Jesus being mocked by Roman soldiers. Jesus underwent this and many other humiliations and sufferings out of His immeasurable love for… YOU! While the soldiers’ mockery was intended to shame Jesus, it actually became an unintentional homage to the “King of the Jews.” Let us be Catholics who intentionally honor Jesus Christ, the King of the Universe, with our devoted love, obedience and service of Him who brought us salvation.

CONFESSIONS: In preparation for Easter, before the Sunday Mass, even during the Stations of the Cross, I will be hearing confessions 10:20–10:50AM in the Infant Jesus of Prague classroom. Please, note also the other opportunity for confessions on Tuesday, March 31, 6-7PM.

HOLY NIGHT HIKE: On Holy Thursday (April 2, 2026) the Diocese has asked many churches throughout the Diocese to remain open after the Evening Mass until 11 PM for people to come and worship the Eucharist at their altar of reposition. In Ohio City and Tremont, seven (7) of these churches are within walking distance of each other (we are one of them) and they are encouraging young adults (or anyone) to walk together and visit these seven churches on Holy Thursday evening. You can start the pilgrimage walk at any of these churches: (1) St. John Cantius, 906 College Ave., Cleveland, OH 44113-4494; (2) St. Augustine, 2486 West 14th St., Cleveland, OH 44113-4449; (3) St. Andrew Kim, 2310 West 14th St., Cleveland, OH 44113-3613; (4) St. Wendelin, 2281 Columbus Rd., Cleveland, OH 44113-4230; (5) St. Emeric, 1860 West 22nd St., Cleveland, OH 44113-3185; (6) St. Malachi. 2459 Washington Ave., Cleveland, OH 44113-2380; (7) St. Patrick on Bridge Ave, 3602 Bridge Ave., Cleveland, OH 44113-3314.

PALM BRANCHES FROM LAST YEAR: The palms that we receive on Palm Sunday are blessed. If we no longer wish them to have displayed or kept in our homes, they should be properly disposed of by either burning or burying in the ground. If you would like the church to dispose of the old palm branches, please bring them to us by April 3.

GOOD FRIDAY FASTING (for 18-59 years old) and ABSTINENCE (for 14 years and up): Good Friday is a day of abstinence from meat and also a day of fast, that is, only one full meal is allowed. Two other meatless meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken according to one’s needs, but together they should not equal another full meal. The laws on abstinence and fast bind under the pain of mortal sin.

NEXT WEEK’S GOOD FRIDAY COLLECTION is taken up for the Christians in the Holy Land. The collection supports the church minister in parishes, provides Catholic schools, and offers religious education, and helps preserve the sacred shrines. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

FRIENDS AND ALUMNI DINNER on April 19th at the Shrine of St. Elizabeth of Hungary. That day we will not have 11AM Mass at St. Emeric, but, we will transfer it to St. Elizabeth with a 11:30 start time. Following the Mass, dinner will be served. More information to follow.
