FROM THE DESK OF FR. BONA: (1) This week, on Tuesday, the daily Mass is moved to 8:30AM. That day we, the priests of the Diocese of Cleveland, have our annual meeting with the Bishop and I need to get there on time. Thank you for your understanding.

(2) Thank you also to all those who are helping with preparations for the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the consecration of our church building. One of the projects is to write the history of the current church building. Nick Boros, who is helping with the research, discovered an important fact. The date on the picture that shows the people in front of the church after its consecration (September 6, 1925) is incorrect. That is to say, on Sunday, September 6, Bishop Schrembs was in the cathedral celebrating his 4th anniversary of installation and in the afternoon he went to bless the new school for St. Cecilia parish on the Kinsman Road. He consecrated our church on the following day, Monday, September 7, with the Mass beginning at 10AM. That year this day was also a Labor Day (hence, the people could attend in great numbers).

(3) The music for next Sunday’s Mass is provided by our Youth choir. Thank you very much.

OUR PATRONAL FEAST and the 100th ANNIVERSARY OF THE CONSECRATION OF OUR PRESENT CHURCH BUILDING will be celebrated on November 9 and Cleveland’s Bp. Martin Amos, bishop emeritus of Davenport, IA, will be our main celebrant at 11AM Mass. We will begin with a Eucharistic Adoration after 9AM Mass in English. At 10:45AM we will have the Benediction, followed by the Solemn Mass at 11AM. After the Mass, we will hold the Centennial Banquet in our hall. The menu will be: Chicken/Hen Soup in Újházy Style, Smoked sausage stuffed pork loin, Hungarian style potatoes, Marinated cabbage-vegetable salad, Walnut torte. The cost of the banquet will be $35 and $15 for students (free for children of six years of age or under) and you can register by November 5 with Mária Zsula (216-676-5863) or Mária Mészáros (440-331-0391). Proceeds will benefit the maintenance and upkeep of our 100 year old church building.

OCTOBER MASS COUNT: Every October, parishes across the diocese obtain a head count at all Sunday Masses in order to determine how many parishioners attend weekend Masses. The annual Mass attendance count is intended to provide a comprehensive profile of the diocese and help the individual parishes with their planning and ministry. The two weekends designated for this purpose are: October 4-5 and October 11-12.

ROSARY: In the month of October, which is dedicated to the Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, I would like us to pray communally the Rosary before the 11AM Mass on the Sundays of October. We would start at 10:25am and finish in roughly 25 minutes, which would still give some 10 minutes of silence before the Mass. If you come after 10:25, please feel free to join us in this prayer. Even the few decades of the rosary are worth praying. Also, if someone would like to volunteer to lead the rosary or some of its parts, please let me know.

MAJOR MAINTENANCE ISSUE:  Our aging boiler is on its way to break down. We had a leaking boiler for some time and were trying to fix it internally through chemical solutions, but it worked only for so long and is no longer a viable option. Every advice that I received recommended us to obtain a new boiler, as investing a substantial amount of money in a 30-year-old boiler is not a wise investment. I hope very much that we receive good offers, but the truth is that it will be a major expenditure for us. Once we come to a specific number, I will let you know. If you could help with offsetting the cost, it would be greatly appreciated. Mark your donation with “new boiler.” Thank you to all of you who have already donated. God bless!

TODAY IS BLANKET SUNDAY sponsored by the Diocesan St. Vincent de Paul Society. Your financial donations will go even further through bulk purchases of blankets and other items for the homeless and poor individuals in our own metropolitan area. www.svdpcle.org.

LAST WEEKEND’S COLLECTION: Sunday Collection: $2,060; St. Anthony: $20; Maintenance: $1,900; Boiler cost offset: $1,529. May God reward your generosity in supporting the church. Thank you for sending in your donations by mail or using our website https://stemeric.com/donations/.

PLEASE PRAY FOR THE SICK, especially for Bev Kimar, Teréz Kalász, Lajos Boday, Márta Takács, Kathy Szabó, Alex Szaday, Virginia Kachmar, Margaret Falk, Mária Hokky, Balázs Bedy, and Sylvia Öszényi.

PLEASE PRAY FOR THE DECEASED: Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord; and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen

THIS SUNDAY the 11:00 AM Mass from St. Emeric church will be livestreamed at https://www.facebook.com/saintemeric/

LET US PRAY THREE HAIL MARYS FOR OUR PARISH EVERY DAY!
