FROM THE DESK OF FR. BONA: One of the serious obligations of a pastor/administrator is to pray for the people of his parish. The canons of the code are very specific in saying that the pastor must offer on Sundays and Holy Days of obligation a Mass for his people (in Latin called missa pro populo). If the pastor has more than one parish, one Mass suffices to fulfill this obligation. Hence, in the bulletin, you can see listed among the intentions of the Masses the following: “For the Parishioners of St. Emeric and St. Elizabeth.” Now you know why it is there. Switching topics, we have received from the diocese a permission to move the celebration of St. Stephen of Hungary to a Sunday. Thus, in our church we will celebrate the feast of St. Stephen on August 23rd. God bless! Fr. Bona
