FROM THE DESK OF FR. BONA: Happy Labor Day weekend! At our usual 9AM Mass on Monday we will ask for God’s continued blessings on our work, but also we will thank Him and petition Him to help us not to forget that the ultimate and definitive meaning of life is not to be found in work. Work is essential, but it is God — and not work — who is the origin of life and the final goal of man (cf. Compendium of the Social Doctrine of the Church, n. 257). God bless you! Fr. Bona

50TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION: The coronavirus pandemic has disrupted many diocesan events. At this time, bringing together couples at the cathedral celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary is not possible. However, the diocese does not want the year to pass by without marking this very special occasion. To honor all couples married in 1970, they would like to send a diocesan certificate as a keepsake. The jubilarians should visit www.dioceseofcleveland.org/50th and complete the form. Catholic couples celebrating a significant anniversary, or those close to them, may also wish to consider ordering a parchment marking a Papal Blessing, via the website of the Office of Papal Charities (https://www.elemosineria.va/papal-blessing-parchments).

LAST WEEKEND’S COLLECTION: Sunday Offering: $1,352. Memorial donations for Zsolt Dömötörffy: $25;  THANK YOU AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU! Thank you for remembering your church’s needs in these difficult times and sending in your offertory donation, whether by mail or using the PayPal option found now on the website: https://stemeric.com/donations/
