FROM THE DESK OF FR. BONA: St. Christopher (his feast day is July 25) is well known as the patron saint of travelers. This is due in large part to a medieval legend in which the saint carries the Christ Child over a river. If he was given the care of the baby Jesus during his travels, wouldn’t he be a perfect patron for our own adventures?

Here is a popular prayer to St. Christopher that invokes his intercession during our travels. Whether you are traveling on your own or with your family, pray to God through the intercession of St. Christopher. Many have attributed their safety to this fascinating saint and are at peace when they know he is with them. (Source: Alleteia; modified)

Dear Saint Christopher,
protect me today
in all my travels
along the road’s way.

Give your warning sign
if danger is near
so that I may stop
while the path is clear.
Be at my window
and direct me through
when the vision blurs

From out of the blue.
Carry me safely
to my destined place,
as you carried Christ
in your close embrace. Amen.

MASS TIME MOVED: This Monday, July 24, the morning Mass time will be 7:50 AM.

LOOKING AHEAD: St. Stephen Day parish picnic will be on Aug. 20. Details to follow.

AUGUST SPECIAL ELECTION: Issue 1 asks voters if Ohio should “Require that any proposed amendment to the Constitution of the State of Ohio receive the approval of at least 60 percent of eligible voters on the proposed amendment.” Passing Issue 1 directly affects the issue of abortion in Ohio. Namely, the abortion lobby, with the current easy threshold of 50.01%, is presently attempting to enshrine abortion up until birth with zero restrictions in Ohio’s constitution this November. Thus passing the Issue 1 (voting YES on August 8, 2023) will help protect the most fundamental right of all – the right to life. Issue 1 will save 30,000 children each year if it passes. Please, ensure you are registered to vote and verify your voting information before July 10, 2023 by going to VoteOhio.gov.
