FROM THE DESK OF FR. BONA: (1) This Sunday, on the feast of Christ the King, we also want to remember and celebrate the patronage of St. Elizabeth of Hungary (her feast day is November 19 in Hungary and elsewhere in the world on November 17). That is why for our Hungarian Mass we are gathering at the Shrine of St. Elizabeth (Mass at 11:30AM). It is good to be here, at the mother-church of the Hungarian Catholics in US. A warm welcome also to our guests who may be visiting our shrine church today. We are happy to be here celebrating a Mass and we are happy that you are here today with us.

(2) On this occasion, I would like to thank all of you who have contributed with your gifts, talents and treasures to this celebration at the Shrine of St. Elizabeth.

CHRIST DERIVES HIS KINGSHIP from two fundamental rights: creation and redemption. As the King of creation, Christ is the eternal source and sustainer of all existence. St. Paul speak of Him as the “image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For in him were created all things in heaven and on earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers; all things were created through him and for him.” Furthermore, He is not only the originator of all things but also the one in whom “all things hold together” (Col 1:15-17), ensuring the continued existence and coherence of the universe and thus establishing His supremacy over the entire cosmos.

Christ is the Head and King by right of redemption as well, because His kingship is grounded in His role as the Redeemer who paid the price for mankind’s sins through His blood. He has conquered evil and reconciled all things to God. Again, St. Paul says that Jesus Christ is the “firstborn from the dead … for in Him all the fullness was pleased to dwell, and through Him to reconcile all things for Him, making peace by the blood of His cross, whether those on earth or those in heaven.” (Col 1:18-20). Furthermore, His redemptive work is not limited to humanity but extends to the entire cosmos, restoring creation from the effects of sin and death. His authority is political, spiritual and eternal, established through His resurrection and ascension, where He now sits at the right hand of God, exercising supreme dominion over all creatures.

A BLESSED THANKSGIVING to all of you! Our Thanksgiving Mass will be our regular Mass at 9AM on Thursday. Our first thank you should always go to God. He is the author of everything good in our lives. There is no better way to thank Him, than to participate in the Eucharist. I would like to also let you know that I am very grateful for all your help around the St. Emeric and St. Elizabeth Shrine.

THIS YEAR, our church is taking part in the diocesan-run #weGIVECATHOLIC online fundraiser to help cover the cost of a much-needed new boiler. We invite you to consider making a donation and sharing this effort with family and friends who may wish to support our cause. Early giving begins Saturday, November 22, and continues through Giving Tuesday, December 2. You can donate easily by scanning the QR code or visiting: WeGiveCatholic.org/Emeric. If you’d like to make a donation by check, please make it out to “St. Emeric” and write “boiler” in the memo line and mail or drop it off at the church. 100% of all donations go to St. Emeric to fund the cost of a new boiler for the church.

LAST WEEKEND’S COLLECTION: Sunday Collection: $2,127; In loving memory of János & Anna Padar: $200; Boiler cost offset: $130. May God reward your generosity in supporting the church. Thank you for sending in your donations by mail or using our website https://stemeric.com/donations/.
