FROM THE DESK OF FR. BONA: Last week we held our St. Stephen’s Day Picnic. The weather was slightly warm, but with the breeze outside it was rather comfortable. The rain held off as well and we were able to host our guests both in the hall and outside on the lawn (and enjoy each other’s company). The food was delicious and the music in the hall (and outside) was pleasing. We welcomed Mr. Bálint Bakondi from the Hungarian Chicago Consulate, and saw the performance of the scout folk dancing group, Regős. Thank you very, very much to everyone who helped in any way with the event of the day, with the organizing and running of the picnic. The profit for the church was $7,100 – a great success! The winner of the raffle ($367) was Tom Rooney who generously donated the winnings back to the church. Again, I appreciate everyone’s dedication to our parish.

TEMPORARY MASS TIME CHANGES: (1) This week, on Wednesday, the daily Mass will be at 8:30AM and there will be no daily Mass on Thursday. (2) Based on the experience of the last few years, whereby very few people came when we also had a Mass at the Scouts’ Day at the German Central Park, we will not have 11AM Mass here in the church on Sunday, August 31. There will still be a 9 AM Mass in English. (3) This year, on September 6, will be exactly 100 years that the current church of St. Emeric parish was consecrated. While we will remember this anniversary more on our patronal feast day in November, I would like us to gather that day for a special Mass. Therefore, on Saturday, September 6, at 5PM we will have a Mass in Hungarian (not in English as is customary) after which we will have a cake reception in our hall. (4) On September 7, we are planning to rededicate the restored corner stone of St. Stephen Church from McKeesport, PA at the Shrine of St. Elizabeth. Therefore, that day there will not be a Mass at 11AM here at St. Emeric, but we will have a Mass at the Shrine of St. Elizabeth at 11:30AM with a brief ceremony and light reception to follow.

BAZAAR SPECIAL (ONLY THIS WEEKEND): In the bargain room (to the right of our gift shop – bazaar), for 5 dollars anything you can fit into a provided bag is yours! While there, check out also our regular gift shop items. The bazaar is operated by the Altar Guild and from the proceeds the guild helps the efforts of the parish, especially in its beautification (inside and outside).

EUCHARISTIC PROCESSION: Legion of Mary of the Diocese of Cleveland invites you to a traditional Eucharistic Procession on Saturday, August 30, 2025 beginning with Holy Mass at 11am at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Cleveland. RSVP is not required and all are welcome to attend. For more information, please email contact@legionofmarynorthernohio.org   or go to https://www.facebook.com/legionofmarynorthernohio/

GENERAL REMINDER ABOUT PARKING: With the soon to be completed building across the street, the cul-de-sac is once again open to traffic. We should not be parking in the circle, as it is meant to be a turning area for emergency vehicles, especially firetrucks. As you are aware, we have the possibility of parking for free at the West Side Market parking lot. To secure this parking, you must register your car by submitting a form (available at the doors of the church). I highly recommend this for those who have not done it yet, since parking on our premises is limited to roughly 30 cars only. The filled-out form (check the Opt Out option, but don’t do the log-in part), should be scanned and emailed to the address at the top of the form. In addition to providing these forms, we can help scan and email the filled out forms, if necessary.

LAST WEEKEND’S COLLECTION: Sunday Collection: $1,703; Assumption: $500; Maintenance: $2,220; Renovation $551.64. May God reward your generosity in supporting the church. Thank you for sending in your donations by mail or using our website https://stemeric.com/donations/.

PLEASE PRAY FOR THE SICK, especially for Bev Kimar, Teréz Kalász, Lajos Boday, Márta Takács, Kathy Szabó, Alex Szaday, Virginia Kachmar, Margaret Falk, Mária Hokky, Balázs Bedy, Éva Fricke, Ottó Hunyadi and Sylvia Öszényi.

PLEASE PRAY FOR THE DECEASED: Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord; and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen

THIS SUNDAY the 11:00 AM Mass from St. Emeric church will be livestreamed at https://www.facebook.com/saintemeric/ and https://stemeric.com/

LET US PRAY THREE HAIL MARYS FOR OUR PARISH EVERY DAY!
