FROM THE DESK OF FR. BONA: (Part 1) June is the month traditionally dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Because of blasphemies against Our Lord, our Lady, and our Church, we must strive ever-more fervently in our prayer turn to Our Lord in faith and devotion. The essence of this devotion is the perfect love of Our Lord Jesus Christ in the Sacrament of the Eucharist. It is there in the Eucharist where we experience communion in the most real way this side of Heaven. Our Lord revealed to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque this devotion along with promises made for those who worship Our Lord through this devotion. Here are the Twelve Promises:

  1. I will give them all the graces necessary for their state of life.
  2. I will establish peace in their homes.
  3. I will comfort them in all their afflictions.
  4. I will be their secure refuge during life, and above all, in death.
  5. I will bestow abundant blessings upon all their undertakings.
  6. Sinners will find in My Heart the source and infinite ocean of mercy.
  7. Lukewarm souls shall become fervent.
  8. Fervent souls shall quickly mount to high perfection.
  9. I will bless every place in which an image of My Heart is exposed and honored.
  10. I will give to priests the gift of touching the most hardened hearts.
  11. Those who shall promote this devotion shall have their names written in My Heart, never to be effaced.
  12. I promise you in the excessive mercy of My Heart that My all-powerful love will grant to all those who receive Holy Communion on the First Fridays in nine consecutive months the grace of final penitence; they shall not die in My disgrace nor without receiving their sacraments. My Divine Heart shall be their safe refuge in this last moment.

NEW PAYMENT PROCESS AT WEST SIDE MARKET: Starting Friday, June 7, 2024, there is a new payment process for parking in the West Side Market parking lot. There are no longer any gates because cameras take pictures of license plates as cars enter and exit. Parking is free for the first 60 minutes during market’s open hours. Generally, if you park more than 60 minutes or when the market is closed, you need to take a picture with your phone of the QR code located on signs in the parking lot. This code will take you to an online link and to a website where you can pay for your parking. Those who do not do this will get a bill in the mail. However, if you are participating at an event on the St. Emeric Church property, such as Mass, Hungarian school, scouts, luncheons, meetings or any other event, then you DO NOT HAVE TO PAY! The company that is operating the parking lot for the Market is creating a process that will recognize cars attending St. Emeric events. Copies of the form to register your vehicle were emailed out and some are also available in the back of the church. After registering you will not have to pay for parking in the West Side Market parking lot. The filled-out form (check the Opt Out option, you don’t have to do the log-in part), should be scanned and emailed to this email address: tiffany@westsidemarket.org.  Currently, parking is free 24 hours, 7 days a week for St. Emeric attendees, but this may change until the process is finalized. We will provide any new information as it becomes available.
