FROM THE DESK OF FR. BONA: Today is the fourth Sunday of Advent – for few hours, because in the evening it is Christmas Eve. According to the Church’s teaching, as I informed you, we need to fulfill both Sunday and Christmas obligation with two separate Masses. When it comes to a bulletin, however, we can feed two birds with one seed. Thus, this bulletin covers both our Advent Sunday, and our great Feast of Christmas.

I hope that the season of Advent was fruitful for you, although this year it seems to me that it went by very quickly. As we have now reached the culmination of the season of Advent, I wish all of you a very Blessed Christmas! May the grace and peace of God be always with you!

The message of Christmas is clear: God has broken into our world. He made Himself visible in Jesus and we can no longer ignore Him. We have witnesses who saw Him, met Him, talked to Him, and who gave credible testimony that he died and rose from death. We no longer have to guess who God is and what does He want of me; now we know for sure. As God came into our world, we are now asked to enter into His. As we say to Eternal God in the Christmas preface 1 at Mass:

For in the mystery of the Word made flesh
a new light of your glory has shone upon the eyes of our mind,
so that, as we recognize in Him God made visible,
we may be caught up through Him in love of things invisible.

THANK YOU: Thank you to all of you who contributed to the cleaning and decorating of our church for Christmas, and the worthy celebration of this feast through singing and other practical matters. May God reward your generosity!

TWO OBLIGATIONS: Even though Christmas overlaps a little with the Fourth Sunday of Advent, there are still two obligations, Sunday and Christmas, and they need to be fulfilled with two separate Masses. PLEASE PRAY FOR THE DECEASED, especially for Mária Melegh.
