FROM THE DESK OF FR. BONA: Recently, I heard on the radio an ad supporting Issue 1 (expansion of abortion up to 9 months and restriction of parental rights). What was interesting about the ad was the brazen misleading, lying and how it was trying to scare the people that if they do not vote for Issue 1, the abortions will be outlawed in Ohio. I wish that would be the case. Abortion business is huge and they will do anything to expand abortion. Let us keep them at bay. Please let us take this issue seriously. Every vote is needed. Let us not be silent or indifferent. Let us expose the lies and share the truth with our neighbors. Let us defend God’s unborn children who have only us as the voice in the world. The elections are on November 7, but the early voting has already started.

VOTE “NO” ON NOVEMBER BALLOTT ISSUE 1: If this proposed amendment is not defeated, it would (1) Put women at risk: • Health and safety standards in Ohio could be eliminated. Doctors could no longer need to examine a woman or explain the risks of the abortion procedure ahead of time. (2) Threaten parental rights: • A fifteen-year-old could have an abortion without her parents knowing. Current Ohio law requires parental notification and consent before a child under 18 can obtain an abortion. These parental right protections could be removed as they directly conflict with the amendment which would allow all individuals, including minors, to make their own reproductive decisions. (3) Allow for abortions of fully formed babies: • Abortion would be legal through all 9 months of pregnancy. Physicians at an abortion clinic could use a woman’s age or emotional well-being as a reason to perform an abortion in the 3rd trimester.

OUR PATRONAL FEAST will be celebrated on November 5 and Fr. Barnabás G. Kiss, OFM pastor of Holy Cross Hungarian Roman Catholic Church, Detroit, MI will be our main celebrant at 11AM Mass. We will begin with a Eucharistic Adoration after 9AM Mass in English. At 10:45AM we will have the Benediction, followed by the Solemn Mass at 11AM. After the Mass, we will have a sit down meal. The menu will be: traditional chicken soup, roast pork with mushroom sauce, rice pilaf, Fresh cabbage Salad, Hungarian style Pastry, coffee. The cost of the meal will be $25 and $13 for students (free for children of six years of age or under) and you can register by October 31 with Maria Zsula (216-676-5863) or Maria Meszaros (440-331-0391).

EUCHARISTIC PROCESSION: The Cleveland Division of the World Apostolate of Fatima (Blue Army) invites you to be part of “A Mile for Mary,” Saturday October 28th, 2023. We welcome your presence beginning the day with the Holy Mass at Our Lady of the Angels (9 AM) followed by a Eucharistic Procession ending at St. Mark Parish, where we will pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet followed by Eucharistic Benediction.  A light meal will follow at St. Mark.  We would love to have you join us in closing the month of October, dedicated to the Most Holy Rosary, making reparation for the Five Blasphemies against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
