FROM THE DESK OF FR. BONA: (1) Next Sunday, for our feast-day, after the 9AM Mass, the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed, and the Benediction will be at 10:45 AM. During this time, Fr. Barnabás G. Kiss, OFM will be available for confession.

(2) Several people mentioned that when we livestream our Sunday Mass, the first half of the church looks empty. I do know that people have their usual seats, but if you are looking for a change of scenery, please consider the first pews.

(3) Those of you who have children that are considering reception of First Communion or Confirmation next year, please let me know as soon as you are able so we can talk and plan for preparation.

(4) This year the Solemnity of the All Saints falls on Wednesday and we are bound to attend Mass for this solemnity. To fulfill this obligation, we will have the following Masses: on Tuesday, October 31 at 6PM (in English), on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at 9AM, 12Noon (language depending on those present) and at 6:00PM (in Hungarian).

(5) On Thursday, November 2, we will celebrate the All Souls Day. Two extra Masses will be added: at 12 Noon and in the evening (6 PM). The 6PM Mass will be offered for those who have died from our parish since the previous All Souls Day. If you would like to add other names to be remembered, please let me know.

VOTE “NO” ON NOVEMBER BALLOTT ISSUE 1: If this proposed amendment is not defeated, it would (1) Put women at risk: • Health and safety standards in Ohio could be eliminated. Doctors could no longer need to examine a woman or explain the risks of the abortion procedure ahead of time. (2) Threaten parental rights: • A fifteen-year-old could have an abortion without her parents knowing. The current Ohio law requirement of parental notification would be removed as it directly conflicts with the proposed amendment. (3) Allow for abortions of fully formed babies: • Abortion would be legal through all 9 months of pregnancy. Physicians at an abortion clinic could use a woman’s age or emotional well-being as a reason to perform an abortion in the 3rd trimester.

TODAY’S SECOND COLLECTION: supports the work and witness of the Missions.

OUR PATRONAL FEAST will be celebrated on November 5 and Fr. Barnabás G. Kiss, OFM pastor of Holy Cross Hungarian Roman Catholic Church, Detroit, MI will be our main celebrant at 11AM Mass. We will begin with a Eucharistic Adoration after 9AM Mass in English. At 10:45AM we will have the Benediction, followed by the Solemn Mass at 11AM. After the Mass, we will have a sit down meal. The menu will be: traditional chicken soup, roast pork with mushroom sauce, rice pilaf, Fresh cabbage Salad, Hungarian style Pastry, coffee. The cost of the meal will be $25 and $13 for students (free for children of six years of age or under) and you can register by October 31 with Maria Zsula (216-676-5863) or Maria Meszaros (440-331-0391).
