(4) Please note that on Wednesday, May 13, we will not have a morning Mass. I will be traveling to Columbus for a conference.

(5) We will continue our catechetical meetings next Sunday, May 17 after 11AM Mass in our hall. All of you are invited. This program is in Hungarian.

(6) ROSARY: in the month of May on the Sundays before the 11AM Mass at 10:25am.

MAINTENANCE REPORT: (1) Thanks be to God, we have been able to get through the winter with our 30-year-old boiler. I am grateful to Sunday Services who were able to fix the leak so that we would not have to do the install of a new boiler in the middle of winter. While it is tempting to try to get through one more winter with the existing boiler, the fix was only temporary and the leak can reappear anytime. The plan is to do the install of a new boiler in the summer. I am very grateful to all of you who have donated toward this goal to offset the cost. We have been able to collect well over $40,000 and brings us roughly to the two-thirds of the estimated cost. I will seek one more professional opinion on our boiler situation, but do not foresee learning anything new. If I do, I will let you know. (2) A week ago, a two-week work was completed on the west wall of our church. Most of the storms come from the west and so it was crucial to fix this side of the church. We had severe leaks on this side of the church for years. What was done? WR Restoration company removed and replaced 9 windows lintels. One of them was extremely corroded. When a lintel corrodes, it expands and pushes on the bricks and they in turn move and create cracks in the wall through which water leaks in. The company also did some tuckpointing, routed and sealed cracks, and as a final step applied a masonry sealer to entire elevation. The work cost over $21,000. I am grateful that we were able to receive a grant from the Bethlen Gábor Alapítvány for this work, which covered almost half of the project. (3) Finally, in the past few months, our almost one hundred year old organ has been malfunctioning more and more. Since September 2025, we have done already three emergency repairs totaling $3,300, but the organ keeps breaking down. I have kept the repairs to what was minimally required, but a larger overhaul of some of its internals is unavoidable. This will not be cheap and so after consultation, I have decided to devote the proceeds from this year’s chicken paprikash luncheon to this cause.

TEMPORARY STREET CLOSURES ON MAY 16-17: While our church is not on the route of the Cleveland Marathon, several important access roads will be closed on those days (in the mornings). This may affect more those who come to the 9AM Mass on Sunday. Please, go to www.clevelandmarathon.com to see the course maps and plan accordingly.

MAY 31 – TRADITIONAL CHICKEN PAPRIKASH LUNCHEON AT ST. EMERIC CHURCH HALL: The lunch begins at 12:30 p.m. Menu: Hungarian style fresh green pea soup, chicken paprikash with traditional dumplings (nokedli), Hungarian style cucumber salad, homemade pastry, coffee. Refreshing drinks are also available. If you would like to participate, please call one of the following ladies by May 27 (Take out pre-orders also accepted): Marika Zsula 216-676-5863 or Mária Mészáros 440-666-6290. For adults $30, for students $15, and children under 6 free. The proceeds of this dinner will be used for the repairs of our organ. Additional donations for this cause are also most welcome.

LAST WEEKEND’S COLLECTION: Sunday Collection: $2,249; Ascension: $5. Boiler cost offset: $70; Maintenance: $250; Renovation: $100. May God reward your generosity in supporting the church. Thank you for sending in your donations by mail or using our website https://stemeric.com/donations/.
