FROM THE DESK OF FR. BONA: (1) Today, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, also known as Corpus Christi (from Latin, meaning the Body of Christ). This feast celebrates the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. It emphasizes the belief that the consecrated bread and wine become the actual Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ. Historically, the feast was established in the 13th century to create a specific day for honoring the Eucharist with joy, separate from the somber observance of the Last Supper on Holy Thursday. To honor the presence of Jesus in the Eucharist we will hold an outdoor procession (weather permitting) after the 11AM Mass. Please join us! Also, thank you to all those who so diligently worked on preparing the church and the grounds for this great feast.
(2) Thank you to all of you who helped with our Traditional Chicken Paprikash Luncheon last Sunday. I appreciate your hard work. Thank you to those who participated and supported us. The profit of the luncheon, which will go towards the organ repair, was $4,753. Additional donations for this cause are also most welcome.
PLEASE NOTE: I will be away from the parish and will be back on June 26th. There will not be weekday Masses until the 29th and substitute priests will be covering the weekend Masses. Also, we will not have 9 AM Sunday Mass while I am away. If there is an emergency, please call your neighboring parish. If there are funerals, please email me at rbona@dioceseofcleveland.org. I keep you all in my prayers.
MASS SCHEDULE CHANGE: The departure of the Institute of Christ the King the Sovereign Priest from the Shrine of St. Elizabeth of Hungary, necessitates a Mass schedule adjustment for us. After consultation and considering several alternatives, I have decided to move the 9AM Sunday Mass in English from St. Emeric to St. Elizabeth. The last 9AM Mass here at St. Emeric will be on June 7 and the 9AM Mass at the shrine will start on June 28 and, like here at St. Emeric, it will be in English. Please, note the two-week hiatus in this transition. For more on this change, please see the last week’s bulletin.
JUNE: THE MONTH OF THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS: Jesus’ pierced Heart on the cross is a sign of our Redeemer’s love for us. When we honor the Heart of Jesus, we focus on our love for the Heavenly Father and on His love for us. Jesus so loved the Heavenly Father that He willingly gave up His life as sacrifice in order to obtain forgiveness for our sins and wrongdoings. Jesus so loved us that He accepted death on the cross so that we would be reconciled with the Heavenly Father and to rejoin His divine life. The essence of our reverence for the Heart of Jesus is the Atonement, the following of Christ, and the offerings of ourselves.
CONSECRATION: As the United States marks the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence on June 11, 2026, the bishops of the United States will lead a consecration of our country to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Catholics across the nation are invited to participate in this historic act of consecration through Home Consecration, prayer and celebration.
THE 2026 CATHOLIC CHARITIES FOLLOW-UP APPEAL: Thank you to all who have already supported the 2026 Catholic Charities Appeal. Your generosity continues to bring hope, healing, and compassionate care to individuals and families throughout Northeast Ohio. Our Follow-Up In-Pew Appeal is this weekend, and we invite those who have not yet made a gift to prayerfully consider participating. Through your support, Catholic Charities is able to provide food, shelter, emergency assistance, and life-changing services to those most in need. Together, we become the hands through which Christ blesses our communities. To make a gift, you can find the envelopes at the main doors of the church. Be sure to write in “St. Emeric Parish.”
